The Pacific Meteorological Council (PMC) is a specialized subsidiary body of SPREP, established at the Fourteenth Regional Meteorological Services Directors meeting in Majuro, Republic of Marshall Island in August 2011 to facilitate and coordinate the scientific and technical programme and activities of the Regional Meteorological Services.

11 August 2026, Alofi, Niue – A three-day training was carried out at the Niue Meteorological Service (NMS) to help strengthen the capacity of its Climate Services team to use a range of climate prediction tools and platforms in order to get the best possible climate outlooks and seasonal predictions for Niue.

The programme has been approved for a total of EUR 85M under the intra ACP Cooperation – 11th European Development Fund - Strategy Paper and Indicative programme 2014-2020 programming actions for the ACP regional organizations/institutions and countries. The overall goal of this Action is to support the climate information services value chain with technical and financial assistance, infrastructure and capacity building.
