8 September 2026, Nuku’alofa – The Pacific media plays an important role in keeping communities safe from climate and weather events such as tropical cyclones, flooding, droughts, and El Niño and La Niña by communicating vital weather and climate information and stories to people right across the region, including those in the last mile.

This was the impetus behind the organisation of the Pacific Media Mana Class, held ahead of the eighth meeting of the Pacific Meteorological Council (PMC-8) in Nuku’alofa this week.
