Pacific need sustained support for water services

Fiji Met receives certification in climate services

15 August, 2017, Honiara, Solomon Islands, PMC-4 –CLIMATE services by the Fiji Meteorological Services has been Quality Management System certified by the International Standards Organisation.

While presenting a country report at the Fourth Pacific Meteorological Council meeting in Honiara yesterday, FMS director Ravind Kumar said the certification was the result of significant positive changes for the meteorological services over the last two years.

PMC members urged to focus on hydrology services

14 August, 2017, Honiara, Solomon Islands, PMC-4- Members of the Pacific Meteorological Council have been encouraged to focus on the hydrological component of their national meteorological services by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

WMO development and regional activities director Mary Power said there was not enough focus on the hydrology services by meteorological services. Hydrology services include flood warnings and alerts.
